The New Year

It is hard to believe that 2015 is already here! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the break and are ready to get back to work. I know I am! 

I apologize for slacking on updating the homework page of the website before break, it got very busy! I will be regularly updating the homework assignments each week to keep you properly informed. You may also view the latest class newsletter on the same webpage if you did not receive one from your child.

4th Grade Field Trio to the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill

I am so proud of the 4th grade students here at Merrick-Moore! Not only did they impress the staff with their knowledge on the content, but they also displayed model behavior! Way to go 4th grade, keep it up! Here are a few photos from our trip:

We did a GREAT job answering questions in our Round, Round, and Round We Go class!

We also got to model the phases of the moon and how the Earth, Sun and Moon interact with one another.

Luckily, we had the opportunity of enjoying a lovely lunch on the sundial outside of the Planetarium.

Terrific Tiger

I would like to congratulate Maria for being our first Terrific Tiger this year! Maria's name, along with the description below was read over the morning announcements. A poster featuring Maria's picture was also displayed on the Terrific Tiger board for the whole school to see! Keep up the great work Maria!

Box Tops for Education

Last year our school raised $403.00 with box tops alone! This year our goal is $500.00 and I know we can do it with your help! There are a number of ways to help raise money for our school:

1. Clip box tops and bring them to school.

First Day of School

Welcome to 4th  Grade!

Thank you for all the parents and students who made it out to Meet the Teacher night. I loved meeting each and everyone of you and look forward to speaking with you soon! I am thrilled to have you as a part of our winning team this year and can't wait to get started! I want to begin by sharing a little about myself, Ms. Cross!

All About Ms. Cross!

- I graduated from Eastern Wayne High in Goldsboro, NC in 2006

- I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Go Mountaineers!

- I worked as a  manager at Chuck E Cheese in both Raleigh and Durham! 

- Ms. Cross was once in fourth grade, just like you!

- My favorite drink would be a nice cup of hot tea!

Mmmmmmmm!

- If I could eat anything it would be a big bowl of spaghetti!

- I love anything GREEN!

- I enjoy comfy sweaters and cool temperatures in the fall.

- I spend a lot of time reading books!

- Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the smells, the scenery, and the overall feeling of good cheer that comes with the season!

- I currently live in Cary, NC with my other half Daniel, two cats Cosmo and Marble, dog Annie, and turtle Atlas. Daniel and I are very excited to welcome our newest addition to the family, our little boy Jude! I enjoy spending my free time reading, gardening, crafting, and traveling! 

I am delighted to be spending my third year teaching fourth grade here at Merrick Moore Elementary. I couldn't have chosen a better school to start off my career with, as I have already learned so much from my fellow staff members as well from my students.
